Another beautiful day in wine country. It's hard to believe I've been away two months. The time really has gone quickly and I have loved every minute of the trip. I have made the difficut decision however, to cut my trip short and start to wind my way home. The heat prevents almost all outside activities during the day.
You'll remember when I first arrived in Temecula, I lost my phone. That and having poor connection in the "hills", I spent a lot of time sitting in the parking lot of the Temecula Duck Pond while I tried to deal with the phone issue. You can't access any apps as your telephone number is used for "authentication" and of course I didn't have my phone.
The Duck Pond is really pretty and Buttons and I walk around it every day. He'd love to get one of those ducks. Last week he fell in trying to get some water. He sure paddled.
It's been wonderful visiting with James and Tammi. We toured the Nixon Library which was fascinating and last Sunday James took me to La Jolla to see the Birch Aquarium and then on to lunch at a restaurant overlooking the ocean. It was so nice. A perfect location, day and company.
Yesterday we spent the day in Balboa Park - took the tram around the park and then stopped to listen to the Spreckels Organ Concert which is free every Sunday afternoon. The Spreckels Organ Pavilion was constructed in 1915 and is a National Historic Site. The organ is the largest in the world. It's worth googling to get the history.
We spent time in the Spanish Village, in Balboa Park, which is an artists haven. Loved our time there.
Tomorrow Tammi and I are going to drive to San Diego to pick up Matthew, their son and my great-nephew? San Diego is only about an hour from Temecula and the scenery is so unusual. I really enjoy our drives. Then on Wednesday, we're going with her mom to a local winery for lunch and you guessed it, a glass of wine!
This will be my last post as I expect I'll be home by the end of July. One last stop before I leave will be the Reagan Library next Sunday.

It sounds like a great trip but always nice to go home too! And then 6 months to sort through your photos! And of course, buying a new

Always happy and relieved to hear from you Charmaine. I think about the heat you have been in. We have so much heat, like right now it is 34, and it is not pleasant except when back in the air conditioned house. Look forward to seeing you back in Edmonton. Travel safely.
